Reception to Celebrate the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday (4 March 2026)
A reception to celebrate the Emperor of Japan’s Birthday was held on 4 March. The reception was jointly hosted by Ambassador Ichikawa, Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament; Ambassador Oike, Permanent Representative of Japan to the International Organizations in Geneva; Ambassador Nagai, Permanent Representative of Japan to WTO, WIPO, UNCTAD; and Mr. Hagino, Chief of the Consular Office in Geneva. Ambassadors from other Permanent Missions and heads of international organizations in Geneva were among the approximately 430 guests in attendance.
At the reception, guests enjoyed a taiko drum performance by Remi Taiko, as well as sake and Japanese tea served at dedicated booths, and a display of Hina-kazari (Decoration with Dolls), showcasing Japan’s rich culture and traditions. The reception concluded in a lively and celebratory atmosphere.
