Dialogue with Geneva-based Pacific Missions on Conventional Arms Conventions
On April 2, Ambassador Ichikawa co-hosted, together with the Australian Delegation to the Conference on Disarmament, an event at the Delegation to engage with Geneva-based Pacific Missions on conventions related to conventional weapons. The Dialogue was attended by ambassadors and representatives from Geneva missions of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), Pacific countries, Presidents and Secretariats of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention - of which Ambassador Ichikawa serves as President of the 22nd Conference of the States Parties, the Arms Trade Treaty, the Convention on Cluster Munitions, and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs. The discussions focused on the challenges for Pacific States in joining and implementing conventional arms conventions, as well as possible cooperation measure to address them.
