Participation in an NPT side event on youth engagement in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation

　On 4th May 2026, Ambassador Ichikawa participated as one of the panelists in a side event co-organized by Kiribati and Thailand titled “Brushstroke for Peace” at the UNHQ in New York on the occasion of the 2026 NPT Review Conference. This side event was organized with a support from UNODA's “Youth Leader Fund for a World Without Nuclear Weapons (YLF)” financed by the Japanese Government. Ambassador Ichikawa explained various initiatives by the Government of Japan, including YFL and a Joint Statement on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education delivered by Japan with the participation of 116 NPT State Parties, to convey the reality of the use of nuclear weapons to the international community and to promote youth engagement.
