Statement by Ambassador Ichikawa at the Closing session of 2026 NPT Review Conference

　22 May:  At the closing session of the 2026 NPT Review Conference, Ambassador Ichikawa delivered a statement. She highlighted Japan’s efforts throughout the Conference, including the Joint Statement on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education, which was endorsed by 116 countries. While expressing regret that the final document was not adopted by consensus, she reiterated Japan's commitment, as the only nation to have suffered atomic bombings during the war, to working with other countries to maintain and strengthen the NPT regime - the cornerstone of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
