The Delegation of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament
Geneva, Switzerland plays host to a variety of disarmament related meetings including the Conference on Disarmament (CD). The CD, as the sole multilateral disarmament negotiating forum of the international community, conducts deliberations particularly on nuclear disarmament issues such as a fissile material cut-off treaty. In addition to the CD, Geneva also provides a venue for conferences on the Biological and Toxins Weapons Convention, the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention as well as meetings concerning small arms and light weapons. The Delegation of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament with its ambassador at its head participates in the these conferences, attends the First Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) related meetings and other international disarmament meetings held around the world, and promotes Japan’s disarmament diplomacy.
